چکیده
Overnight post dexamethasone plasma Cortisol levels were estimated in thirty patients of major depression and 30 controls. The cut-off point after which post dexamethasone plasma Cortisol level could be considered abnormal, in patients of major depression, has been worked out at 15 μg/dl in the present study. The results are discussed.

OBJECTIVE Previous studies using the 1.0-mg dexamethasone suppression test (DST) in subjects with personality disorders have produced mixed results. However, these studies focused on major depression and did not consider the possible effects of the comorbidity of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD has been shown to be associated with increased cortisol suppression. To investigate the ef...
متن کاملChronic caffeine consumption and the dexamethasone suppression test in depression.
Acute caffeine administration increases cortisol and converts the dexamethasone suppression test (DST) to nonsuppression in normal humans; data concerning chronic administration as well as effects in depressed patients are minimal. To determine whether caffeine intake influenced DST results in depression, we retrospectively studied the relationship between regular daily caffeine consumption and...
